It is not uncommon for me to go to Tim Hortons for coffee and see the Nuclear Security vehicle in a long line of waiting vehicles at the drive-thru. I am curious, for the 20 minutes or so that those officers are getting coffee, who is watching the fort?

Thank you for your comments and concerns for the security of our nuclear facility in Pickering. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulates the minimum staffing levels required at each site. The Durham Regional Police Service Nuclear Security Division always have at least the minimum staff required, at the facility, 24 hours a day. Any officers that you see getting a coffee at the Tim Hortons would be either officer(s) over and above the minimum compliment or officers taking a break from their training duties. There are no safety concerns that are occurring based on the situation you have described.
