I reported an incident on my street tonight where my neighbours' sons and their group of friends were sending off fireworks from the end of their driveway. I was told by DRPS Admin that this was 'allowed', although I questioned the safety issue and noise issue since this began at approximately 1:00 a.m. today. The neighbours are approximately 4-5 houses away from mine. Every 10 minutes or so, I would see a young male hold a firework in his hand and aim it towards the middle of the street and towards neighbouring houses/cars. It took approximately an hour for a DRPS SUV to drive by but in that hour I witnessed 11 fireworks, and they even sent a few more about 2 minutes after the DRPS drove away. I appreciate and thank the DRPS for responding to my call as this was not an urgent matter, however I am disappointed that they did not witness any of the reckless behaviour beforehand.

Thank you for understanding that it wasn't an urgent matter and public safety is our primary concern. It is unfortunate our officers we not able to observe this behaviour as we could have reminded them of the dangers of dealing with explosives and of the appropriate time and manner in which to deploy them.
