Marijuana and the Police

Canadian consumers deserve safe access to marijuana. It is a very popular product, so it is time we regulated the business. Allowing the pot trade to operate outside the scope of any regulatory regime puts organized criminals in charge of the business. These crime groups are only in the trade because it is profitable, and the trade is only profitable because it is prohibited.

Legalizing pot will get it out of residential home grow operations and into farmer's fields where it belongs. Adding age controls will also go a long way to reducing the number of children which have easy access to pot.

Rigorous police enforcement of existing laws only exacerbates the grow op problem by increasing the profitability of the illegal business.
