is it legal to drink in a boat, even if the person drinking is not the boat operator? what are the restrictions? thank-you

It is illegal to consume alcohol in a boat even if you are a passenger and not the one operating it. The only time you can consume alcohol in a boat is if the boat can be classified as a residence, meaning it has amenities such as a bathroom and sink etc. and if the boat is anchored or docked. In terms of anchoring, the boat must be anchored for a significant amount of time. You cannot simply anchor the boat in the middle of a lake, have a drink, then continue boating.
