Inspector Mel Anderson

Inspector Mel Anderson leads a team of 160 officers and 9 civilian members dedicated to providing excellent police service to this growing city best known as the home of General Motors of Canada Ltd.

With a population of 165,000 the City of Oshawa is by far the busiest police jurisdiction in Durham Region, accounting for 24.21 per cent of all Calls for Service handled by the Durham Regional Police.

Although the large GM complex dominates the industrial landscape, Oshawa is also home to six of the top ten employers in Durham Region including the Ontario Ministry of Finance, a large and expanding hospital and the Durham District School Boards.

Thousands of students come into the community every year to attend the main campus of Durham College and the University of the Ontario Institute of Technology.

Oshawa is also home to many attractions, including Parkwood Estate, the McLaughlin Gallery, the Canadian Automotive Museum and The Ontario Regiment Museum.

Central East Division is located at 77 Centre Street North.
