Preventing crime and maintaining safe communities is everyone's responsibility. By practising the following personal and property safety tips, you can help reduce the incidents of crime and keep your community safe.
It happens all too often; answering the telephone to hear a salesperson on the other line pressuring you for your money. Telemarketing fraud costs unsuspecting customers over $1 million a year.
Anyone who pressures you or demands instant payment is most likely a con artist. Reputable companies will respect your decision. Beware of companies claiming to be offering free trips or investment opportunities, as well as salespeople claiming to be “security department officials” or those who try to offer credit card loss protection.
Always research a company before purchasing any product or service. There is no harm in asking for more information to be sent to you. If the company is legitimate, the sales person should have no problem providing the information you request.
