|Bobbie Drew, now in her second term as Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor for the Township of Scugog, has been in the political arena since 1988.|
Serving as the Scugog Trustee on the Durham District School Board for 12 years, this mother of three and grandmother of seven has lived most of her life in Scugog Township. She retired from the School Board as Vice-Chair and launched her municipal political career in 2003 as a Ward Councillor.
As Durham Regions Board appointee, Bobbie has served on the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority for 11 years, and their Foundation for eight. She currently serves Durham Region on the Finance Committee, as well as a number of local municipal committees; Healthy Lake Scugog, Phase 2 Waterfront Development, Emergency Management Control and Arts Committees to name a few.
Bobbie has been a community volunteer for as long as she has lived in Scugog. From fundraising to committee involvement and active participation in the Annual Polar Plunge in aid of Lakeridge Health,
Bobbies personal interests centre around her family, friends, music, community involvement and musical theatre. She has written columns for local newspapers and takes an active part in all things Scugog.
Bobbie is delighted to serve on the Police Services Board as a representative of Durham Regional Council for the 2014 to 2018 term. In fact, her quotation in a recent Durham Regional Police Services Board publication sums up her genuine enthusiasm for the role: I know how deeply our citizens value the safety of our community, and how much they appreciate the positive impact that members of the Durham Regional Police have on their lives every day.
