  Two Suspects Charged After an Armed Street-Level Robbery

Two suspects are facing robbery-related charges after stealing a backpack from a student in Whitby on Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of Central West Division were called to Burns Street West and McCullough Drive for a street-level robbery. A 16-year-old male was walking from school when he was approached by two suspects. The suspects, who were armed with knives, demanded that the victim hand over his backpack. The victim, fearing for his safety, handed over the property and the suspects fled on foot. The victim didn't sustain any physical injuries.

Christopher R. LEESON, age 18, of Hurley Road in Ajax, and a 16-year-old male from Oshawa, were charged with: Robbery; Weapons Dangerous and Fail to Comply. Both were held for a bail hearing.
