A frontline officer who speaks multiple languages helped de-escalate a tense situation involving a distraught male in Ajax over the weekend.
On Saturday, September 30, 2017, at approximately 7:45 a.m., police were called to a residence near Audley Road South and Bayly Street East in Ajax. A 911 operator received a call from a family member who was assaulted by the male and advised that he was extremely agitated and aggressive. Officers responded to the residence to check on the wellbeing of the caller. Police arrived and escorted the family to safety while the subject locked himself in the residence and refused to exit.
