CHANGE OF DATE: DRPS Taking to the Skies with its Newest Tool

Oct 06, 2017 09:53 ET

*Please note: The date has been changed to October 17, 2017*

DRPS is launching a new tool to assist with collision investigations: an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

The UAV will be used by the Traffic Services Unit to assist officers investigating collisions in Durham. Using software and on-board cameras, the UAV can take images of a scene and generate detailed maps for analysis. This new tool will not only help further investigations, but it will reduce the length of some road closures.

The media are invited to see a mock collision investigation demonstration of the UAV and hear more about how DRPS will be utilizing this new resource.

*Please note the demonstration is dependent on proper weather conditions*
