  Suspect Arrested after Convenience Store Robbery in Whitby

A 16-year-old male is facing robbery charges after two separate incidents at a convenience store in Whitby.

On Thursday, October 5, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m, the suspect entered the Whitby Convenience Store on Dundas Street, selected a set of headphones and fled the store without paying for the items. On Friday, October 6, 2017 at approximately 7:45 a.m. the same suspect returned and made a demand for cigarettes, he was refused service; the suspect left the store and returned a short time later, at which time he assaulted the victim and took the cigarettes. The suspect left the store and once again returned and threatened the victim using a skateboard, he smashed open the cash register and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Police charged a 16-year-old male from Oshawa with: Theft Under $5000; Robbery with Violence and Weapons Dangerous. He was held for a bail hearing.
