  Convenience Store Robbed in Ajax

Oct 23, 2017 11:56 ET

Investigators are hoping the public can help identify a suspect who robbed an Ajax convenience store Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at approximately 12:20 p.m., a lone male with his face concealed by a hoodie, entered the Best Way Convenience Store on Ritchie Ave in Ajax. He ordered the clerk to open the cash register and pushed her. After stealing a quantity of cigarettes, the suspect left the store and was seen running westbound on Ritchie Avenue.

A K-9 track was unsuccessful and officers searched the area but no arrests were made. The clerk was uninjured and no weapon was seen.

The suspect is described as a male, black, about 18-20 years old, 6' tall, approximately 170 lbs. with a slender build, with a dark complexion, wearing a dark yellow and black windbreaker, a black or dark grey hoodie and black pants.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Det. McInall of the DRPS Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5359.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
