  Officers Defuse Tense Situation with an Armed Male in Oshawa

Numerous members of DRPS successfully de-escalated a tense situation involving a distraught armed male in Oshawa Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, October 29, 2017, at approximately 12:20 p.m., police were called to the area of Harmony Road and Bloor Street East in Oshawa for an armed distraught male. A citizen called 911 to advise that the male was armed with two large knives and wanted police to shoot him. Officers were able to build a rapport with the male and the male eventually dropped the knives and was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries sustained during the interaction with police.

A 31-year-old male was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for assessment.
