  Male Deceased Following Motor Vehicle Collision In Cannington

A 69-year-old North Durham man was found deceased following a single motor vehicle collision in Cannington this morning.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at approximately 10:50 a.m., officers from North Division were called to Cameron Street West near Albert Street for the report of a collision. Witnesses indicated a black GMC pickup truck was travelling westbound on Cameron Street at a slow rate of speed when the vehicle mounted the curb and a hit a utility pole before coming to a stop on the boulevard.

An off duty fire official broke a window to gain access to the driver and rendered first aid until paramedics arrived. The driver was rushed to hospital in Lindsay where he was pronounced. It's believed the driver experienced a medical emergency, which led to the collision.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
