A 30-year-old male is facing several charges after damaging a Pickering business Wednesday and threatening employees, before leading police on a pursuit.
On Wednesday November 22, 2017 just before 1 p.m., a male with his face covered drove up to a Pickering business and began smashing the windows and threatening employees with a baseball bat. It's believed the suspect was known to the victims.
No one was hurt and the male suspect returned to his vehicle and fled the area when a police pursuit ensued. The pursuit was called off for safety reasons as the suspect travelled southbound along Highway 412 into Whitby. Air 1 later located the male travelling on Brock Street and then Consumers Road in Whitby. With the assistance of officers and Tactical Support the male was arrested as he entered the 401 westbound ramp.
Shane FRANCIS, age 30, of no fixed address is charged with: Fail to Stop for Police; Assault With a Weapon x4; Disguise with Intent; Mischief to Property Under $5,000; Possess Weapons Dangerous for Committing Offence and several Highway Traffic Act infractions. He was held for a bail hearing.
