  57-Year-old Male Injured in Rear-end Collision Involving an Electronic Bike

A 57-year-old Oshawa male was injured after being involved in a rear-end motor vehicle collision on Bond Street West near McMillan Drive in Oshawa.

On Thursday, November 23, 2017, at approximately 1:49 p.m., officers from Central East Division were called to a rear-end motor vehicle collision involving one motor vehicle and an electric bike. A black and camouflage colour electric bike was westbound on Bond Street West, west of McMillan Drive, when it collided with a blue Chevrolet Equinox, which was stopped on Bond Street West, waiting to turn right, providing right of way for a pedestrian walking on a sidewalk.

The 57-year-old operator of the electric bike was transported to Lake Ridge Health Oshawa and treated for the non-life threatening injuries sustained in the collision. The 58-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was uninjured and remained at the scene of the collision cooperating with police in the investigation.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
