  Bowmanville Teen Chased by Stranger

Nov 27, 2017 10:42 ET

A 16-year-old Bowmanville teenager reported she was chased by an unknown male after stopping to help him with directions.

On Saturday, November 25, 2017 at approximately 9:40 p.m., a 16-year-old Bowmanville female was walking north on Mearns Avenue on the west side of the road. Just south of Guildwood Drive, a small black car travelling southbound pulled over to the side of the road. She heard the driver say "directions" and turned around to face the vehicle. An unknown male exited the passenger side of the vehicle and started to chase her.

She ran southbound and made it to a convenience store where a citizen assisted her. The suspect vehicle never went past her.

Investigators would like to speak to the two males involved in this incident. The driver of the vehicle is described as a male with tanned skin. The second male who chased after her is described as a male, late 20s, black, with white straight teeth, wearing black clothes and a black toque.

The vehicle is described as a small, old black car with tinted windows and yellow headlights.

Anyone with information that can help identify these two males is asked to contact East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1606.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
