  Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in Ajax

A 10-year-old female sustained fatal injuries as a result of a two-vehicle collision in Ajax on Monday evening.

On Monday, November 27, 2017 at approximately 5:38 p.m, members from West Division were called to Taunton Road east of Church Street in Ajax, regarding a two vehicle head-on collision.

A 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by a 22-year-old Ajax male was travelling eastbound on Taunton Road east of Church Street. A 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by a 47-year-old Ajax female was westbound on Taunton Road with her 10-year-old daughter in the rear seat. The 2015 Hyundai crossed the center lane and travelled eastbound in the westbound lane striking the 2012 Hyundai. The driver of the 2015 Hyundai was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The female driver of the 2012 Hyundai was transported to hospital with minor injuries, the young passenger of the 2012 Hyundai was transported to hospital and was pronounced as a result of the injuries sustained.

Collision investigators from the Traffic Services Branch were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision who have not already spoken with police.
