A 49-year-old Oshawa woman was killed in a motor vehicle collision in Oshawa on Friday morning.

At approximately 6:58 a.m. on December 8, 2017 members of the Durham Regional Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a sedan and a loaded dump truck that had reportedly caught fire. The collision occurred in the intersection of Simcoe Street and Winchester Road in Oshawa

Witnesses report the collision occurred when the sedan made a left turn to go west onto Winchester Road and was struck by the southbound dump truck. Both vehicles left the roadway, colliding with a traffic standard and some hydro wires, causing a power outage in the area.

The driver of the sedan succumbed to injuries she sustained as a result of the collision and passed away at the scene. Her name is not being released at this time.

The road was closed for several hours while members of the Collision Investigation Unit investigated the collision.
