A 44-year-old Whitby man was injured when his vehicle was struck by an impaired driver in Oshawa on Thursday evening.
On Thursday, January 4, at approximately 7:52 p.m., officers responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles that had occurred at the intersection of Stevenson Road and the Highway 401 eastbound off-ramp in Oshawa.
Witnesses report the collision occurred when a southbound Jeep SUV collided with a Ford SUV in a t-bone-type collision. The Ford had been turning left from the off-ramp to go north on Stevenson Road at the time of the collision.
The 44-year-old driver of the Ford was extracted from the SUV and rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. He was later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre. He is currently listed in stable condition.
The road was closed for several hours while members from the Collision Investigation Unit investigated the collision and are still investigating the cause of the collision. However, the driver of the Jeep was arrested at the scene.
Devin PETER, age 22 of Marksbury Road in Pickering, is charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and Exceed 80 milligrams Causing Bodily Harm. He was released with a Promise to Appear.
