  Distraught Male on Railway Tracks Points Firearm at Police

A 39-year-old male pointed a firearm at police after driving his vehicle onto railway tracks in Clarington.

On Friday, January 5, 2018, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Baseline Road and Holt Road where a car was seen parked on the railway tracks. A male was sitting in the vehicle. As an officer approached the vehicle, the male exited and pointed a firearm at the officer. The officer discharged his firearm, but did not cause injury. The male then dropped his weapon and was apprehended without further incident. He was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act.

The 39-year-old male is charged with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace and Point a Firearm.
