  Single Motor Vehicle Collision in Ajax

A 22-year-old Ajax male suffered serious injuries after a single vehicle rollover early this morning in Ajax.

On Friday, January 19, 2018, at approximately 1:14 a.m., members of West Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision at Harwood Avenue near Williamson Drive in Ajax. The male driver was travelling northbound on Harwood Avenue when his black Mazda 3 sedan lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a large concrete light pole on the east side of the roadway. The 22-year-old male driver was ejected at impact and found lying on the roadway a short distance away. The vehicle came to rest on the front lawn of a nearby residence.

Emergency services attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the injured driver. The victim was transported to a trauma center in Toronto with serious injuries. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. Police believe alcohol played a factor in the collision.
