This event is being held on Monday January 29, 2018, from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby. Presentations in the Upper Galleria will run from 11 a.m. until noon and an International Fair will take place from 10:30 a.m until 1 p.m. on the lower level, featuring displays from local businesses.

The keynote speaker for this year's launch is Pickering resident Alvin B. Brown. Alvin is an author, speaker, educator, and an integrated peak performance consultant and advisor to entrepreneurs, athletes, and those who wish to perform at higher levels in their lives. Professionally, Alvin has achieved his Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Osteopathic Manual Therapy. Alvin is the CEO and Founder of "The Centre for Healing and Peak Performance," a multidisciplinary health and wellness centre that opened in Pickering before expanding to a second location in Toronto. He is also the author of "Journey to Personal Greatness - Mind, Body and Soul: A Blueprint for Life Balance and Self-Mastery," available at all major bookstores. Find out more about Alvin and his team here.

A number of events are also planned to commemorate Black History month, including the raising of the Pan-African flag. The choir from Pickering High School, The Femme Tones, will sing the Canadian National Anthem and the Black National Anthem, and the group will hear from several guest speakers.
