  Robbery Suspect Charged After an Armed Street-Level Robbery

A 21-year-old suspect is facing robbery-related charges after stealing cash from a victim he offered a ride to.

On Thursday, January 25, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of West Division were called to the area of Valley Farm Road and Finch Avenue in Pickering after a 20-year-old male was located with injuries. The victim advised that he was picked up in Ajax by two suspects in a Red Honda who offered to drive him home. While in the vehicle, the suspects made a demand for his cash and the victim was assaulted with a wooden object, possibly a broom handle. The victim was dropped off near his residence and police were contacted by a citizen. The victim was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Kareem CATER, age 21, of Knapton Avenue in Ajax is charged with: Robbery with a Weapon and Assault causing Bodily Harm. He was released on a Promise to Appear.

Investigators continue to look for the second suspect who is described as: male, black, long hair, in his 20's.
