Jan 26, 2018 14:02 ET

Four people were arrested after a marihuana dispensary in Whitby was raided earlier this week.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 11:48 a.m., officers from Central West Division executed a search warrant at a business on Dundas Street East near Athol Street called Canastop. Four people were arrested and a quantity of drugs and currency was seized, along with drug paraphernalia. The street value of the drug seized is approximately $19,000, including highly concentrated THC, known as "shatter."

Jeff PACKER, age 55 of Fieldnest Crescent in Whitby; Keith YEAMAN, age 28 of Athol Street in Whitby; Colette LEFEUVRE, age 21 of Frost Drive in Whitby; and Deja NOEL, age 22 of Bach Avenue in Whitby are all charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. All four were released on a Promise to Appear.

Although legislation to legalize marihuana is set to come into effect later this year, unlicensed drug dispensaries and "shatter" will continue to be illegal.
