  Single Motor Vehicle Collision in Oshawa

A 21-year-old Oshawa female was seriously injured after a single vehicle collision in front of Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital in Oshawa.

On Friday, January 26, 2018 at approximately 6:12 p.m., members from Central East Division responded to reports of a vehicle that had struck a concrete planter box at 1 Hospital Court in Oshawa. Witnesses reported that a white KIA Soul EX SUV was westbound on Hospital Court when it accelerated to a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued west where it left the roadway and struck a large concrete planter box situated on the center median off the roadway.

A 28 year old male pedestrian who was standing nearby was also struck and injured by the vehicle. His injuries are non-life threatening.

The female driver was rushed inside the hospital and then transferred to a Toronto Trauma Centre with serious injuries. She is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
