  Teen Produces a Gun during a Robbery

A 15-year-old male was in a residence to buy a cellphone when he threatened a 13-year-old victim and his family with a handgun.

On Monday, February 5, 2018, at approximately 7:47 p.m., a 15-year-old male took an Uber taxi from Mississauga and attended a residence in the Westney Road and Highway 7 area of Pickering to buy a cellphone. A 13-year-old male in the residence had placed a cellphone for sale using the online classified app Letgo. The two youths spoke inside the residence about the phone.

When the accused attempted to leave with the cellphone without paying, a fight ensued. The accused pulled out a handgun and threatened the victim, who then called for his parent's help. The victim's father intervened and the accused pointed the gun at his head. The father believed the handgun was fake and wrestled the accused to the ground. He held the accused until police arrived. The accused was arrested and found in possession of a knife. The gun was found to be a bb gun.

A 15-year-old male from Mississauga is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm; Imitation Firearm Used While Committing an Offence; Weapons Possession for a Dangerous Purpose and Threatening Bodily Harm or Death. He was held for a bail hearing.
