  Suspect Arrested and Another Sought after Bank Robbery in Whitby

One suspect is arrested and another is outstanding after an armed robbery at a bank in downtown Whitby.

On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at approximately 11:05 a.m., two suspects, one armed with a handgun entered the Scotiabank located at Dundas Street and King Street in Whitby and demanded cash. The suspects administered a noxious substance in the bank prior to fleeing the scene. Employees and customers were in the store and suffered minor injuries from the unknown irritant. They were treated at the scene.

One of the suspects was arrested by members of Central West Division as he was located fleeing the scene. Robbery investigators are still looking to identify the second suspect.

Quinton Zion KELLY, age 19 of Simcoe Street North in Oshawa, is charged with: Robbery with a Weapon; Disguise with Intent; Administer Noxious Thing and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace. He was held for a bail hearing.

The outstanding suspect is described as a male, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, wearing a black jacket with grey sleeves, black hooded sweater, black pants and black shoes.
