  Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

A 27-year-old Ajax female and her 2-year-old son were seriously injured after being involved in a head-on motor vehicle collision on Westney Road near Lake Driveway West in Ajax.

On Friday April 13, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from West Division were called to serious head-on collision involving three vehicles on Westney Road, south of Lake Driveway in Ajax. A silver Toyota Camry was southbound on Westney Road South when it collided with another southbound vehicle, a Hyundai Sante Fe. The Camry lost control as a result, crossed the center line and collided with a large commercial transport vehicle travelling northbound.

The 27-year-old female driver of the Camry was extricated and rushed to a Toronto-area trauma center with serious injuries. She is currently listed in serious condition. Her 2-year-old son, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, was extricated and rushed to hospital. The child sustained serious injuries and is currently listed in critical condition.

The 50-year-old driver of the involved Hyundai and 24-year-old driver of the transport vehicle were uninjured and remained at the scene.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
