A restricted firearm was seized after an 18-year-old male from Oshawa was kidnapped and held in a vehicle for approximately four hours.
On Friday, April 13, 2018, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a male was picked up by known acquaintances at his Oshawa home. The victim was held in the vehicle and driven around as three suspects assaulted him and demanded money. After approximately four hours, the victim was released and attended hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.
Officers began to investigate and were able to identify the vehicle involved. Members of the Gun and Gang Unit were called in to assist. The suspect vehicle was observed in Pickering and a high-risk takedown was initiated. A suspect was arrested and a search of the vehicle yielded the seizure of a restricted firearm.
Usman ALI, age 20 of Rosefield Road in Pickering, is charged withKidnapping while Using Firearm; Assault with Weapon; Possession of a Weapon for Committing Offence and various offences related to the storage and possession of the restricted firearm. He was held for a bail hearing.
The other two suspects are still outstanding.
