  Pedestrian Struck at Bus Stop

A 31-year-old Ajax female was seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle while standing at a bus stop near Taunton Road and Middlecote Drive in Ajax.

On Thursday, September 13, 2018, at approximately 11:10 a.m., members from West Division were called to a serious motor-vehicle collision in which two vehicles were involved in a collision on Taunton Road. After colliding, the Toyota Camry left the roadway and struck a female pedestrian. The pedestrian was standing on the north side of Taunton Road waiting at a bus stop when she was struck. The vehicle, a grey Toyota Camry rolled over into a ditch and came to rest on its roof. A green BMW that was also involved, stopped on the roadway and remained at the scene. The driver of the BMW was not injured.

E.M.S., DRPS and Ajax Fire attended the scene within minutes and provided medical assistance to the injured pedestrian and driver of the Toyota. The female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and later airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital. She is currently listed in serious condition. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
