DRPS congratulates Inspector Charlie Green on his recent appointment as Aide-de-Camp to the Honourable James K. Bartleman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. This is the first time in the history of Durham Regional Police that a member has been honoured with this appointment.
The Lieutenant Governor is assisted by 40 volunteers, including Aides-de-Camp, who are appointed from municipal police services, the OPP, RCMP, Canadian Forces, St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
Every year these volunteers support the Lieutenant Governor at a variety of functions and community events held across the province. They are instrumental in making sure events proceed according to plan and work closely with organizers on questions of protocol and ceremony.
In addition to leading 16 Division in Clarington, Inspector Green serves on the board of directors for the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation and is instrumental in organizing the Ceremony of Remembrance held each May at Queen’s Park. He is credited with forming both the Honour Guard and the Pipes & Drums here at DRPS and is our in-house expert on major ceremonies and issues of protocol.
