A contingent of DRP officers headed to Brockville, Ontario this morning to attend the funeral of fallen RCMP officer Constable Douglas Scott.
Family, friends and co-workers are gathering at the Wall Street United Church to remember the young officer who was killed in the line of duty on Monday, November 5, 2007.
Twenty-year-old Cst. Scott was shot while responding to a drunk driving call in the remote northern community of Kimmirut, Nunavut.
Marty Cheliak Commanding Officer, "V" (Nunavut) Division said Doug was just 20 years old, but had already demonstrated his commitment to the RCMP, to Canada and to the community he willingly served.
