Police Crack Down on Aggressive Drivers over the Weekend

Aug 05, 2008 10:58 ET

As part of enhanced traffic enforcement this past weekend, Durham Regional Police officers conducted numerous traffic stops to ensure safer driving conditions.

Officers were kept busy with speeders and aggressive drivers as they issued 124 Provincial Offence tickets for speeding and seatbelt infractions. Two drivers were operating with suspended licences. They were issued notices and their vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police also kept an eye on unsafe and insecure loads and faulty equipment as 53 vehicles were inspected. The Marine Unit patrolled Durham’s waterways looking for unsafe vessels, licence infractions and impaired boaters.

Most people stopped were happy to have us on the roads to help ensure a safer community.
