  Meet Our New Chief!

Oct 20, 2008 10:25 ET

Ten-year-old Nicholas McLaughlin of Oshawa ceremoniously took the reins of the Durham Regional Police Service today as our Chief for A Day.

The Grade 5 student from St. Thomas Aquinas in Oshawa was picked up at his school at 9:00 a.m. by a DRPS cruiser and taken to HQ, where he took his Oath of Office with Chief Mike Ewles.

Nicholas and his proud family were given a personal tour of Headquarters before being whisked to the Police Learning Centre. Chief McLaughlin will visit various units in the Service including Communications/911, Forensics and Air1.

On Oct. 23, he will be a VIP guest at the 6th Annual Police Appreciation Dinner and Awards Night at Deer Creek in Ajax, where he will again deliver his winning essay.
