Nov 03, 2008 09:11 ET

The Durham Regional Police Service is asking the public for assistance in locating a missing 40-year-old woman in Pickering.

On Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 at approximately 1:00 p.m., family members became concerned when they could not located Monica TIERRA of Wilcroft Court in Pickering. It is unusual behaviour for her to lose contact with her family and she is not familiar with her surroundings.

Police have searched her home and immediate neighbourhood with no results.

TIERRA is described as: female, of Philippine descent, about 5’4’ tall, medium build with long straight black hair in a ponytail or bun. She may be wearing a blue car coat and carrying a large black purse described as being the size of a football. She is not carrying identification but may have cash on her person.

Anyone with information as to her location is asked to call the DRPS at 1-888-579-1520. The lead investigator is Det. O’Brien of 19 Division at ext. 2529.

Police officers continue to search the area and are bringing in the Public Order Unit to do a grid search in the Rouge Valley area nearest to her home.
