Week #4 of Durham Regional Police's annual Festive R.I.D.E. campaign resulted in another 30 motorists charged with drinking and driving offences.
That brings this year's Festive R.I.D.E. total to 101 persons charged - a large increase from the 67 persons charged after Week #4 last year. This total of 101 persons charged is fast approaching the TOTAL number of persons charged in last year's Festive R.I.D.E. after seven weeks (113 persons charged with Exceed, Impaired or Refuse).
This past week, our R.I.D.E. team stopped 2,455 vehicles in various locations across Durham Region, conducted 206 roadside tests and also issued 28 suspensions. This year, due to an increase in provincial funding, the DRPS increased the size of its R.I.D.E. team from eight to 12 members.
