The Durham Regional Police Service had a larger Festive R.I.D.E. team working thanks to additional funding from the provincial government. The team included 12 officers, one sergeant and one Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) operator, compared to eight officers, one sergeant and one MCV operator last year.
The Durham Regional Police would also like to thank the citizens who did not drink and drive during the festive season and who, after we stopped them for a roadside check, encouraged our officers to keep up their efforts.
The DRPS would like to remind all citizens that R.I.D.E. is a year round enforcement initiative and that operating any form of vehicle, boat, off-road vehicle and snowmobile while impaired by alcohol or drug will not be tolerated.
