  Chief Issues Challenge in Swimathon

Jan 13, 2009 12:28 ET

Chief Ewles issued a challenge to local fire chiefs and emergency service workers to put on their water wings for the Eastview Boys and Girls Club first ever Swimathon.

“I am proud to support this club and want to help raise awareness for this great facility and the programs available to kids in the community,” said Chief Ewles. “I want to see our emergency workers rise to this challenge and help out this great club.”

Money from this event will be put towards the clubhouse’s current child and youth programs. “It’s not about how good you look in a Speedo; it’s about having fun and helping kids,” said Lisa McNee Baker, Executive Director for Eastview. “We hope we can create the same success we have with the Walkathon and make this an annual event.”

The Swimathon will take place from Feb. 23 to Feb. 28, 2009 at the Eastview Boys and Girls Club in Oshawa on Eulalie Ave. For more information on the Swimathon or to obtain a pledge form, please visit the Eastview Boys and Girls Club’s website.
