  Weekend R.I.D.E. Results

Jan 26, 2009 12:06 ET

Durham Regional Police charged four people in Whitby and Oshawa with Impaired Operation and Exceed .08 mgs this past weekend as part of its ongoing R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

Police also handed out 12-hour suspensions to seven drivers who registered a warn on our roadside screening devices. Over 1,000 vehicles were stopped during the initiative.

The R.I.D.E. program is one of many road safety initiatives being carried out by the Durham Regional Police. Other initiatives include our spring and fall Seatbelt Safety Campaign and In The Zone, which targets targeted traffic violators in elementary and high school safety zones.

The DRPS would like to remind all citizens that R.I.D.E. is a year round enforcement initiative and that operating any form of vehicle, boat, off-road vehicle and snowmobile while impaired by alcohol or drug will not be tolerated.
