Members of Durham Regional Police traded uniforms for bathing suits to help raise money for the Eastview Boys and Girls Club’s (EBGC) first ever Swimathon.
Chief Ewles issued a challenge to other emergency services and were happy to swim alongside teams from the Oshawa Fire Department and Durham Emergency Services.
The theme of the Swimathon is “Swim a Mile to Make Kids Smile” but our members swam over five! Thanks to Chief Mike Ewles, Sergeant Michelle Hoard, Detective Mel Anderson, Financial Services Director Giles le Riche, Constable Kris Dalziel and Communicators Andie McDowell and Tami Hartford for their amazing effort.
So far, over $8,000 has been raised for various children and youths programs at the club.
DRP has a second group of swimmers set to swim on Sat. Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. The Swimathon runs from Feb. 23rd to Feb. 28th. Please visit the EBGC website to register a team or to make a donation.
