Share Your Thoughts Online Regarding Our Business Plan

Apr 17, 2009 15:59 ET

If you are unable to join us for the current round of public consultations regarding our next Business Plan, you can now participate online.

A short survey is available on our main page under “What’s New” titled DRPS Business Plan Survey. It takes about four minutes to complete and will help us as we prepare for the 2011-2013 Business Plan.

Public consultations for the Board’s next business plan are now underway. It’s your chance to help shape the strategic direction of the Durham Regional Police Service and offer your insights into program and service delivery issues.

Police service boards in Ontario are required by law to have multi-year business plans - blueprints for policing programs and service delivery. The DRPS operates within a three-year planning cycle and the upcoming community consultations are in preparation for the 2011-2013 Business Plan. Past and current Business Plans are available on our website.

The Business Plan helps us achieve our statutory core functions: crime prevention; law enforcement; assistance to victims; public order maintenance; emergency response; and administration/infrastructure.

Our current strategic direction is to move towards a more proactive service delivery model that addresses the root causes of crime. This will change the way we do business and allow officers more time to solve problems and interact with the community. Our success will depend on our collective co-operation and commitment to public safety in Durham.

We would like to build on this principle and hold consultations with residents and stakeholders to ensure our service delivery is as effective as possible. The following chart identifies public consultation meetings taking place across Durham Region. All meetings will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
