On April 22, 2009, officers from Durham Regional Police Traffic Services Branch and 16 and 17 Division joined forces with the Ministry of Transportation for a large truck blitz in Oshawa and Clarington.
The blitz was a major success, as 14 of the 37 trucks inspected were taken off the road for mechanical defects. In total, 18 charges were laid related to unsafe vehicles, defective brakes, and environmental infractions.
