DRP officers were on the road promoting seatbelt safety during the Provincial Spring Seatbelt Safety Campaign from April 15th – 26th.
Officers from the Traffic Services Branch and local Divisions were educating drivers and passengers about the consequences of not wearing their seatbelts.
Police issued 265 tickets to those not obeying the seatbelt law.
Twice a year, the Ministry of Transportation creates an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of wearing seatbelts, child restraints and road user safety.
This year's campaign theme is focusing on children and ensuring they are safely buckled in.
Traffic Collisions remain a leading cause of injury-related death in Ontario, estimated to exact a social cost of $9 billion every year. The DRPS and the Traffic Services Branch remind motorists to take the time to ensure that all occupants are safely buckled in.
