Our Cops Help Raise Money for Special Olympics

May 15, 2009 12:38 ET

Members of the DRPS worked double duty and served up a seafood feast to help raise money for a great cause at this year’s Cops and Lobsters event in support of the Special Olympics.

The event was held on May 14th at the Red Lobster in Oshawa and members of the Durham Regional Police Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics team helped to serve lunch and dinner to hungry guests. All customers were given the option to make a donation to the Special Olympics after their meal.

Lunchtime donations totaled $680.86 and dinner donations raised $955.42 for a grand total of $1636.28 to assist the Special Olympics.

Durham Regional Police members will also be attending the Rob Plunkett Memorial Torch Run, hosted by the York Regional Police on June 11th. In addition, DRP will be participating in the North Durham Torch Run on June 15th as well as the Torch Run from Pickering to Clarington along Highway #2 on June 17th.

Keep visiting our website for more details on the Torch Run closer to the dates.

Thank you to all DRPS members and customers who participated in making Cops and Lobsters another great success!
