The family of murder victim Harjinder Singh Sandhu, age 28 of Brampton made an emotional appeal Friday for any information that could help investigators solve the case.
Harjinder Sandhu, wife of the deceased male and other family members appealed to anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers. Harjinder Singh Sandhu, age 28 of Brampton and another male, Puneet Singh Chhina, age 26, of Nepean, Ontario, were found murdered in the trunk of a vehicle on May 5th, 2009 in the area of Rosebank Road and the 4th Concession of Pickering.
Lead investigator Det. Mitch Martin released new information at a press conference held Friday at Regional Headquarters. Both victims were in the Hwy 407/Kennedy Road area on Monday May 4th, 2009 at approx. 4:30 p.m. They were going to visit someone in that area prior to their death. Investigators would like to speak to anyone that has any information about their whereabouts that evening or whether they have any friends or associates in that area.
Detectives also confirmed Sandhu was facing drug charges in Windsor Ontario at the time of his death but are unsure if those charges are connected to the murder. There is no information connecting Chinna to the drug subculture and investigators are looking for witnesses that can clarify why he was with Sandhu that night.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the murders took place at a different location and the bodies were left in Pickering. A photo of each victim and the car, a 2009 Nissan Altima, were released at the press conference.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Mitch Martin or Detective Doug Parker of the DRPS Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3270. Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
