DRPS and Boston Pizza Support Special Olympics

May 28, 2009 07:35 ET

Members of the Durham Regional Police Service Torch Run team were at all five Boston Pizza restaurants in Durham Region on Wednesday, May 27 for a province-wide fundraiser, “Toonies for Torches", in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

Uniformed and civilian members from the DRPS partnered with staff to serve meals inside the restaurant. Boston Pizza donated a percentage of the daily sales back to Special Olympics Ontario.

Boston Pizza has been selling paper torches for $2 to raise funds Special Olympics. Guests are asked to write their name or a motivational message to Special Olympics athletes on these paper torches, which are posted throughout the restaurant.

Supporters of athletes with intellectual disabilities can make a tax-deductible donation at any Boston Pizza in Durham or at any Durham Regional Police station. All proceeds generated will benefit Special Olympics Ontario, where program growth for the over 15,000 individuals now involved relies on donations.
