Durham Regional Crime Stoppers Video Wins Award

Jun 12, 2009 11:36 ET

Durham Regional Crime Stoppers (DRCS) has received the 2008 award for Best Public Service Announcement for a population over 300,000 from the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers. The award was received during the Ontario Crime Stoppers Conference in Barrie.

The video, created as part of a series of videos about crime prevention, was made to educate the general population about internet safety, specifically targeting young people in elementary and high school. It was filmed by DRCS videographer Chris Theriault and stars local actors, making it a great community project.

The video was judged on criteria including creativity, innovation, quality and excellence in production, contribution to public awareness and originality.

The DRCS future projects include an informative video on how to spot marihuana operations in your neighbourhood.

Congratulations to Chris and the Durham Regional Crime Stoppers team!
