Jul 27, 2009 09:17 ET

The Durham Regional Police Youth in Policing students are hosting a Provincial Youth Forum titled “The Ripple Effect” on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Milestone Christian Centre in Ajax.

DRP would like to hear what teens have to say about youth issues and give them the opportunity to form specific plans of action to eliminate negative issues and bring these solutions back to their schools and community.

This is a full day conference from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. The day will include interactive workshops, focusing on leadership and communication skills, as well as presentations from special guests including keynote speaker, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter.

The conference is open to students between the ages of 13-19. To reserve a spot please contact Katie Zeppieri at 8164@drps.ca by Friday, July 24th before 4 p.m. as space is limited. An e-mail will be sent to confirm enrollment. Students can also earn seven hours of community service towards their high school diploma. Lunch is provided as part of the forum.

For more information, please contact Katie Zeppieri by e-mail to 8164@drps.ca.

Let’s make the voice of youth echo today and tomorrow.
