Jul 28, 2009 16:02 ET

The Special Olympics softball team, the Durham Falcons, won the silver medal in the “C” Division at the 2009 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games this past weekend in Windsor.

In honour of this accomplishment, there will be a celebration for the 15 athletes and three coaches of the team on July 30. The event will take place at Glen Stewart Park’s north diamond in Oshawa at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to the softball team’s success, medals were also awarded to the nine members of the Region 12 soccer team (winning the bronze medal in their division), six rhythmic gymnasts and a large number of track and field athletes for individual and team relays.

Congratulations to all our athletes!
